Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials is a government backed scheme to get businesses up to a minimum standard of
IT security. The goal is to enable organisations to implement controls to give basic levels of protection against
cyber attack improving business
cyber security in the process. This helps your business demonstrate to its clients and suppliers that you take cyber security seriously.
There are two sides to securing a company against cyber security threats in practise.
The Cyber Essentials scheme is a two part scheme with Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
1. Download the Question set for Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials & IASME Basic for free below.
2. Implement controls internally to comply with the questions, seeking advice from a Certification Body such as ITWiser where you have any queries.
3. When you believe you are compliant
contact ITWiser who will set you up on the GCHQ portal to answer your Cyber Essentials questions online.
4. ITWiser (a Certification Body for Cyber Essentials) will mark your assessment online. Note the cost for Cyber Essentials Assessment is £300 + VAT or for Cyber Essentials & IASME Basic Assessment is £400 + VAT.
5, Get certified, download your certificate from the GCHQ portal.
Once you have got to this stage you should look to get the Cyber Essentials PLUS certification.
