It has been reported that the UK foreign office was targeted by a well-resourced and highly motivated group of hackers for several months back in 2016. It’s understood that the government has investigated the previous attack on the foreign office which began last April.
The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre were not prepared to comment on whether any data had been stolen during the attack. It has been reported that the very sensitive information held by the Foreign Office isn’t stored on the systems that were targeted by hackers.
