This mishap happened when a third party supplier called Genpact uploaded the information to an Amazon-hosted server. Due to them not locking the box down correctly the contents were accessible to anyone who passed it, allowing them to download the files.
This issue was found by a security researcher called Chris Vickery who found the stash whilst looking around the net. Chris downloaded the 158.9 GB Microsoft SQL database before calling Scottrade to advise them of the issue.
