Scottish Parliament under siege!
It has been reported that hackers are trying to break into email accounts within the Scottish parliament. The unidentified hackers are doing a similar attack to the one that happened against Westminster.
Holyrood staff and MSP’s were warned on Tuesday that the hackers were running brute force attacks on parliament systems. The similar attacks that happened against Westminster back in June were subsequently blamed on Russia. The result of the Westminster attack was that 90 accounts were compromised.
Sir Paul Grice who is the chief executive for Holyrood’s made an internal announcement, warning users that the monitoring systems identified that they were been subject to brute force attacks from external sources. The symptoms of this attack include failed logins and also account lockouts due to too many failed login attempts.
