O2 designed a marketing campaign to encourage people to download a free eBook.
The telephone network dispatched the USB stick to their business customers. This was followed by an email trying to encourage them to download a free eBook. Shortly after followed another email warning recipient’s that the USB sticks contained malware.
The email was titled “Urgent: Information about potential virus”, this email warned recipients that a number of the USB sticks had a virus embedded. They also warned that it might not be picked up by out-of-date Anti-Virus software.
