NotPetya hackers cash out!

It has been reported that the proceeds of the Petya attack last week were withdrawn overnight. A number of establishments have paid the $300 ransom, even though there wasn’t any guarantee of recovering the data. Just over $10,382 was withdrawn from a wallet that was linked to the attack, in bitcoin value it roughly works out at 3.96 Bitcoin.

As it’s been previously reported NotPetya seemed to be more about causing mayhem and chaos rather than generating funds. In this case you most probably wouldn’t get the data back as they are wanting cause chaos, so parting with hard earned money is a waste of time.
