New Word Bug Leaves Millions Exposed!
There is a very dangerous "zero day" bug that has been found in Microsoft Word which Microsoft need to patch urgently. The dangerous hole exploits OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) to allow an attacker to download content to the victims machine silently. The most worrying thing about this is that the user no longer has to "Enable Macros" to get the file to do any damage, they simply open the word document. It is expected that most attacks will be carried out via emails so everyone should be vigilant when opening documents especially when they are not expected. This hole affects all versions of Office even up to Office 2016 running on the latest Windows 10 operating system.
The ITWiser Cloud Mail Security platform can be customised to block word documents containing macros or OLE. Get in touch with ITWiser today to find out more!
