Mobile base stations spread malware across China!
Phishing criminals in China have been deploying mobile base stations which are spreading malware in text messages. They are doing it this way to bypass the carriers, if they didn’t bypass the carriers then it would be dropped.
The Android scumware that is being spread isn’t a new thing to China it is known as “Swearing Trojan”. The stations send messages that are portrayed to be from China, they normally try and use China Unicom or China Telecom. The texts offer a malicious URL that once opened replaces the Android SMS application with its own version. This then allows it to steal information and also carry the attack on using the contacts stored on the phone.
