Mobile bank app breached by hackers!
Security researchers at the University of Birmingham went public last week with their findings in mobile banking apps security, these flaws could leave millions at risk of been hacked. The researchers developed a tool called “Spinner” which was designed to perform semi-automated security testing for mobile device applications.
The researchers ran the tool on a sample of 400 security critical apps, as a result they were able to find numerous security flaws in many banking apps. Amongst the apps that failed were HSBC, Co-op, NatWest and the Bank of America Health account app.
Although the banks had factored security into their apps there were some flaws which would allow hackers to control the victims online banking.
