Malaysian data breached!
It has been reported that personal data belonging to millions of Malaysians has been swiped by the hackers. The cyber criminals raided government servers and databases which were based across southeast Asia. It has been reported that roughly 46.2 million mobile phone accounts were taken from Malaysian telecoms providers. This is a very serious breach, to put it in another way the population of Malaysia is 31.2 million, so many people have more than 1 number.
The records that were stolen from telco include mobile phone numbers, SIM card details, serial numbers and home addresses. All of this information is useful and can be used by scammers and identity thieves. As well as the above information being stolen over 80,000 medical records have been accessed during the attack. The information above has been put up for sale by the crooks and will be sold to the highest bidder.
