Jewson admits to data breach!
It has been reported that the builder’s merchants Jewson has been involved in a data breach, according to the report the breach took place late in the summer. Jewson sent a letter to all their customers explaining about the breach, and informed them that their details such as credit and debit card info may have been compromised.
The attack on the website is likely to have taken place on the 23rd August but it was only discovered on 3rd November 2017. The website was closed down as soon as the breach came to light, the website to this day remains closed to viewers (www.jewsondirect.co.uk). The ICO were informed of this breach on 10th November 2017, the hackers weren’t detected for many weeks which gave them plenty of time for mischief.
