Japanese police arrest their first ransomware creator!
It’s been reported by the Japanese police that they have arrested a ransomware maker. The major twist to this is that the maker of the ransomware is just 14 years old. The teenage tearaway from Osaka Prefecture in western Japan was caught on 5th June. The Police tracked him down as the suspected creator of the home grown ransomware, this was being spammed out using social media and it was hosted on a website overseas.
According to the teenage nightmare, he created this malware nasty using publicly available encryption source code. He estimated that around 100 people downloaded the malware, it’s still unknown if it was successful or if it even worked.
