Hackers attack home routers!
Cybercrooks are targeting more routers in people’s homes. Fortinet have reported that over the last 3 months’ since July attacks like this have made it onto their daily top 10 IPS detection list. The security vendor says that routers have become a massive target for the cybercriminals.
The hackers are trying to find known but unpatched flaws in D-Link, Netcore and Asus devices. Hacking into a router will allow the criminals to break into the networks and also whatever devices are on them. The Mirai botnet used vulnerable routers aswell as other devices to perform massive DDOS attacks. These attacks affected cybercrime blogger Brian Krebs and some others in late August.
