It has been reported by security researchers at IOActive that many models of Linksys router have vulnerabilities. If these vulnerabilities are exploited, then it could be used to create a botnet army. These flaws could be used to overload a router and force the device to reboot, it can leak sensitive information about the connected devices and the router itself, it can also deny user access.
It has also been reported that many of the connected devices, that were exposed were using default credentials. If connected devices use the default credentials then this would make them susceptible to been hacked.
