Dyre Malware re-emerges as TrickBot and targets banks in Australia!
A Variant of malware that could be based on one of the worst banking trojans, is targeting Australian users. It has been reported that the TrickBot malware has very strong similarities to the Dyre trojan. The Dyre trojan created havoc and targeted banks and businesses in the UK, US and also Australia. Since June 2014 it has inflicted tens of millions of dollars in damages, this has been done through many separate spam and phishing campaigns.
Dyre stole roughly $5.5 million from budget airline Ryanair aswell as fleecing individual businesses of around $1.5 million each. The rampage of Dyre seemed to ease off last year around November, the alleged creators were arrested in February 2016 after raids were done across Moscow. It now seems that one or more of the Dyre gang are back in the malware business. They are targeting Australian banks some of these include ANZ, Westpac and NAB.
