Ashley Madison In Spotlight Again But This Time For Data Retention
The Parent company of the recently hacked illicit dating website Ashley Madison are once again in the spotlight but this time for failing to fully delete sensitive personal information fro their records.
Avid Life Media who wholly own the Ashley Madison brand have been taken to court in a class action because they have failed to remove information such as persona email addresses, GPS locations and sexual references of previous clients of their services. To add insult to injury, the firm were also paid $19 for the privilege of removing their clients’ information. This breach has only come to light since the famous hack and reveal of the information I their databases this last month.
This mistake could cost the company in excess of $5million in compensation owed to the thousands of exposed clients for allowing the leak information that they were not supposed to be holding.
