Even the Courts Get it Wrong Sometimes

The security certificate on the UK’s main legal Internet portal judiciary.gov.uk had recently not been renewed on time.  This is supposed to be a secure webpage to provide the legal profession with information on recent judgements.  It is an essential part of the judicial system as the outcome of cases can effectively change the law the moment they are declared.

The lapse in the security certificate means that the data transmitted from their website was not encrypted.  Users attempting to access thee service were welcomed with security warnings.  Users were assured that the data could still be accessed if the security warnings were ignored but it is a worrying state of affairs if even the top government agencies cannot get their internet security right.

Contact ITWiser today for details of our Internal and External Security Audits.  As well as giving your systems a thorough check, we will also ensure your internal internet access is safe as well as ensuring that you have the relevant encryption set on your webpages and any connections into your business.  Data encryption is an important part of any transfer of sensitive data between your business and any external source.
