Botnet recruiters strike again!

It has been reported that the creator of the Satori botnet has been busy again creating another one. The botnet which has been dubbed “Masuta” attacks routers aswell, it looks to be affecting the D-Link devices.

According to the reports the attacks come in 2 flavours, there is Masuta which uses the standard IoT approach of trying default usernames and passwords. Then there is PureMasuta which exploits an old network admin bug, this bug was spotted back in 2015 in D-Link’s Home Network Administration Protocol.

If you have a device that is vulnerable then it’s been advised to check the firmware on the router to make sure it’s newer than 2015.
