Antivirus Software Update Causes Software to Attack Itself

Antivirus software update causes software to attack itself

The virtues of having an up to date and reliable antivirus package to protect your business are thrown at you at every turn. The market is flooded with products that promise the security of your data and networks and in the current climate a reliable antivirus package is a necessity.

Imagine the chaos that erupted this week when one antivirus software provider released an update that actually identified in error, some files within its own software as a threat.  Many business computers running the antivirus software were left without internet connectivity and with their operating systems unstable.

The company Panda Security immediately issued a warning to its users and were quick to replace the update. However, for all the Panda Security users who had already run the update and rebooted their systems, they were left without a working PC whilst the repair was released.  Although the bad update only related to two of the products sold by the company, it still affected many users and this incident does highlight the dangers of not being properly protected.

Here at ITWiser, we can provide you with a bespoke antivirus package that is secure and reliable.  Our Cloud Antivirus System is a fully managed solution that replaces the traditional antivirus solutions by allowing you more control of your machines even when they aren’t physically accessible or on your local network.  Being a managed solution you get the benefit of leaving the complex configuration  to the experts.
